Default MF 860 vs. IH 1480??

I am looking at a 1980 IH 1480 with 3200 hours. If the price is right I might replace my current Massey 860. Is this a good switch? I know round baling will be a little more difficult but I think the IH might be a more simple machine with far less maintenance. What about the capacity of the two? I currently own an IH 1460 and the servicing compared to the MF is no comparison......

We went from 760's to 1680's back in the 80's and been running them since. You are right lot less maintenance on the IH. 1480 will be more machine, good luck S

In hard going i would bet on the 860 every time. Having said that I have been around when a 750 out run a 1480 in dry 60/bu barley so i have little faith in a 1480

I think a lot would depend on how well the 1480 was looked after 30+ years. They were a good machine and easy to maintain as well as many updates were available.

My replacement, says the electric switches in the 1680 are really nice

Had to put a 4 foot extension on the unload lever

Added later
