Not sure if this category is what to start this thread under but are these good swathes? Looked at one this week. Has 525 hours and looks to be in immaculate shape. All service and repair records are with it and it has been very well maintained! Any info would be helpful. Also any ideas on price? Thanks all!

We owned two - they are a nice cutting machine and lay a nice swath to pick up. Our concern was that they are built pretty light and make sure it has the schumauker (sic) drive on it or added to it. One had it and it was pretty trouble free, but the other didn't have that drive and it was trouble. Ran both for 2200 hrs and then I couldn't afford the down time fixing. If this is mint and only 600 hrs and cheap I would consider it. Have you looked for any CIH 8860 units - they are reasonable price and we put on 2500 hrs on our unit before we sold sold it and I wasn't afraid to sell it locally. Sold it to switch all units to 36 ft.

I have a 26 footer. Gotta watch the header mounts on the tractor part that theyr not cracked. As well look at the big pin that holds the back axle to the main frame. If they break you have to cut it apart to take it out. My neighbour had that happen. Yeah they dont cut low, but they do a great job on canola.

We have a 26 foot with the shumauker drive, swapped it out before we even used it. Its got around 1200 hours and we've had to weld and build up all the canvas guides at the bottom of the table already. The little isuzu seems to have enough power to run it although more is always better. It was a awesome unit in the mud, only times we have been stuck is either cutting cat tails or in the bottom of drainage ditches. But for us I know it was to light and required welding several times every fall. Hopefully a Macdon is sitting in its place next year.
