The preseason order numbers for a new 9540 Massey with 4wd was only 318.... that actually was pretty good combine numbers.. cheap for this day and age..

The Top 10 reasons why farmers keep buying John Deere combines

#10) Dealer proximity (it's a comfort blanket) despite their modern day trend of <90% parts fill rate (The Cracker Barrel probably has a higher fill rate on JD merchandise)

#9) Peace of mind that goes with having way more horsepower than necessary, no matter that it often results in excess grain loss

#8) Rethresher

#7) My resale is better than yours (even though their dealer will take it to auction and lose their butt). Mmmm, really?

#6) The smell of green paint - beats the smell of money any day

#5) Their feederhouse controls are the same as a MacDon sp swather

#4) Nostalgia beats Performance & Quality for the title!

#3) They invented the rotary combine

#2) It's not a rotor!!!

And, the #1 reason why folks buy JD combines...

#1) ISOCHRONOUS Governor
All so true. Deere wouldn't sell 1/100th of the combines they do it they were sold by performance.

We have information sheets now.

I would guess that intro to the public will be after the training in early February.

We priced the machine out in trade value.. for a class 8/9 which I amsure this combine would compare.. a 7120... 310k.. the 9540 would walk away in capacity I would have to price it comparable to an 8120/8230..
Dont get me wrong.. it is way out of line with what a farmer is willing to pay.. but comparing to the other brand new combines its really cheap.
That's duals 4wd.. adjust sieve... no power fold options... I didn't think the new numbers were that far off.. but the trade in values for our machines were 60k short of reasonable values!! So no deal
