Has anyone experienced drive shaft failure on an MT855B ? The seal cap fell out of the trans. input yoke and started leaking oil. No big deal but, in talking to the dealership, they said that there is an update for the drive coupler, coupler shield and drive shaft. The update is to replace these parts because models before serial #1045, the driveshaft was too short(in our case by about an inch). This caused the yoke(which slides on splines on input shaft) to be pulled away from the trans. case and cause too much movement in the u-joint and vibrated the cap out. Its a miracle it lasted to 3000 hours this way. Anyone else been through this?

Yeah that is common. The old style coupler is part of the problem as well because of the outer lip collects dirt and pushes the rubber flange forward pulling the drive shaft away from the transmission causing it to vibrate and leak. Combine that with the shorter drive shaft and you will have a loud vibration and a good leak.
