Not sure if concave clearance has a affect on this issue. Like I had mentioned when and if we have plugged it is typcially at the APS, and after eight seasons with these machines it has been only in slug feeding big wet canola swaths.

On our experience with our high houred 480R you also have to make sure your impeller drive belt is in good condition and install wear plate kit or new impeller to ensure proper material flow to rotors. This will start to plug if not in good condition.

The trick to unplugging cylinder/aps when it is nasty is to loosen impeller drive belt tensioner so the impeller will not turn and take cover of off on top of APC cylinder under cab. Lower concave to full open.

Then put cyclinder in low range if not there already and engage at low thottle. As the material cannot flow back through impeller the cyclinder and and APS will spit material oput onto feeder house. Also in some cases we take our bolts on two speed cyclinder drive to empty back end of combine.

Farming in an area where we often combine a lot of late season nasty wet and hopefully big canola swaths has given us lots of experience with extreme conditions and plugging. Apart fromt the sheer convenience of the rotor reverse on the new red axials these hybrid Lexion machines are the best imo for these conditions. They plug less than the red axials but nothing beats the conveneince of a rotor reverse unplugs. The question will be how those red beasts stand up to that abuse day in and day out as there is no question they work.

They have three change ups on the actual shaft part number in the past. I belive they are trying different shaft materials. It is a comon problem but the newest shaft should have this problem fixed. As for the chopper blades there are hardened and regular blades. the reg blades do not last even half as long as the hardened. But the hardened is three times the price.
