Will be running a 570r this fall which will be my first Lexion. I am looking for a Macdon draper head. There are more 40 footers around than 35 footers but I am wandering if a 40 would be too much head in tough soybeans. Should I only look for a 35 or will it handle a 40 Ok?

We bought a 40 ft fd70 for a 740TT. Both machines were a new experience, but after much research, 40 feet is what I decided to go with. The 740TT doesn't turn very sharp, which was one reason to go 40, also I prefer to be wider and drive slower. Unloading on the go with 40 can be tight, depending on the graincart and tractor design. We bought an unloading auger rubber boot extension, but it doesn't help alot because it is already angled out to begin with.
For wheat, it was a very good match. For soybeans, it was a bit more of a load, but an unusual year and other factors didn't help. 40 on a good running 570/740 is a good match for corn/bean/wheat farmer such as hear. |
