dads steiger would squeal then eventually burn the belt off then we did the radiator in it and found that the groves on the pulley were all knicked and wore down put a new one on and haven't had to put a new belt on in about 1200hrs so far

Now you say that my old 480r did a few tensioner pulleys . The baby powder made the problem 5 times worse so I would not recommend that.

Ozzylexion let me know what corrects your problem. When I took off the fan belt it actually looked really good. I will be checking the fan to see if there is any play on the bearing.

I checked my bearing in the fan pully and there didn't seem to be much play in the bearing. Was it a big job to change the bearing? Do you take the pulley off by loosening the big nut? When we sprayed belt dressing on it it stopped the squeek for 4 hours which indicates the belt was slipping. It also was worse as the weather got cooler or when the machine was just engaged and put on high idle. I was wondering if I could order a jobber belt slightly shorter so it is a little tighter and less prone to slipping. I wish I new the belt series and length. If you solve this problem let me know.

In wasn't a big job to change the bearing. U will need a 50mm spaner , Hydrolic press and a 3307 a-rs1tn9 bearing. How many hours do you have on your engine.?

definatley a problem with one of the idlers or more. Had a 580 do that and then a week later the alt shat itself. had a 740 do the same and the engine fan bearing went. definatly worth investigating closer.
