Default 580r engine fan belt.

Hello. I'm having problems with the fan belt on a 580r. Started to squeal so I put a new one on . 10 hours later it started again. Motor has 1200 hours . I'm on poppies which has a real fine dust. Checked all the pulleys and they seem fine . Any ideas would be greatly appreciated .

Ozzylexion I had the same thing happen on my 590r with the c13 engine this year. When I spray belt dressing on it it goes away for a half a day but then starts to give a high pitch squeel now and then. I havn't put a new belt on yet. I was hoping a new belt would solve it but from what you indicate it may not. My belt running the rotary screen was slipping and which caused my rotoray screen to stop once. I wonder if I burn the fan belt a little bit when the screen was plugging. If the fan can not get air through it the power requirement will go up a lot and may cause the belt to slip. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. I also wondered if the tensioner is not tensioning the belt tight enough for the fan belt.

This is interesting.my 580 has abt 600 hrs on it and I have the same intermittent squeal.sometimes I don't hear it for a couple of days and I kind of forget about it.then it will start acting up again (oh ya,I was going to check that) as far as your fan pulling harder when your rotary was partially plugged, southern, don't you think the fan would get easier to drive since it's running in a partial vacuum?

Sometimes slight oil film can cause the squeal. I recommend baby powder on the belt, it cures the noise for me, unless it is coming from mis-alignment, or a bearing out, etc...

Baby powder.

Good job we have just had a baby. I will try it today. I have ordered a new tensioner and belt to see if that works. It did this last season and I just changed the belt and problem was solved.

Well I took the belt off today. There is about a mil or two movement in the main fan pully . I have got a new bearing which I will install tommorow. Have to get a 50mm spaner to get the fan off. Hopefully this will fix the problem. Fingers crossed.

Ozzylexion do you think your fan bearing is causing the squeeling noise? Does anyone know if the fan bearings are a weakness on these combines? Was the new tensioner very expensive?

Had a similar problem on a 480, changed the fan pulley bearing but was loose in the pulley its self.had to change bearing and pulley, must be a common problem because dealer had lots of pullies in stock.$700 pulley and $90 for the bearing.
