I just bought a 2005 590R from Zieglar Cat. They are going to remove the round bar concave and install the small grains concave before it's delivered. It has the long fingered corn sieve on top.
I grow Wheat, Barley, Soybeans, Edible Beans, and some corn. I'm still learning about the APS grate configuration I'm going to want....Any advice? Also...Is the small grain concave going to be to aggressive for the Edible beans? Lastly...one dealer is telling me I will need to change the sieve out and another is telling me I'll be just fine with the corn sieve....Any thoughts? |

Why so quick to take out round bar concave? Will work best for soy edible and corn. How many acres of wheat and barley? Can put filler plates in round bar concave and also intensive threshing plates between the aps and round bar concave.
We have a 595 and this winter installed a round bar concave, taking the large wire out. Jeremy at HHS is the place to get aps grates. Spend some time reading back through this forum. John |

Thanks for the input...I have spent hours reading back through the threads...My dealer just kind of wants to do this like it's a no brainer. I would think the round bar concave would work "ok" in tough wheat as long as there are filler plates in it. I'm more concerned about the wheat concave making the harvester too aggressive for the edible beans and seed soybeans i harvest.
Andy and John.....are you harvesting edible beans with a lexion? Any tips for me? Where are the problem spots? I'm kind of nervous about doing this. I have been running Gleaners that where highly modified and I don't really know where to start with the lexion. |

JW we are not growing edible beans at this time. Lots in the area, just not us. I know that a few Lexions are being used for dry beans but they are 40 miles away and I don't know what mods they have done.
We have used our Lexion for 2 years on corn wheat and soys. Our biggest problem has been concave plugged in corn causing all separation in the rotors. I also think round bar will be much better on soy splitting also. Congratulations on your purchase, you are going to like it. John |
