No all of ours broke right between the spiral and the start of the knives. We broke about half the rolls on our head during the 2nd season with it. We could not get any more after we replaced the first two or three and ended up robbing them off a new head the dealer had on his lot. It was a massive pita that year but Geringhoff stood up and replaced all the ones that did not get replaced in season when we got done. We ran it one more year and broke a couple, then traded it on a new one and broke a couple on that as well. Our neighbor bought our old one and ended up switching to a Drago becuase has was still breaking them. |

I've got a little over 5000 acres and haven't touch a disc on our geringhoff. i do have to start replacing the front
stationary cutters. I have a friend who also has probly 8-10000 acres through his and hasn't touch a disk yet just the starionary cutter. Ran two years not one day of down time.. 1230 Rota Disk. If u have to pick up any down corn with a geringhoff take the stationary cutters off its not a big deal with a cordless impact. |

To make it clear in your mind , I am not a dealler or salesman , and I do not work for Capello , I am a farmer. The post you pasted is one of the 1st posts I had done , and being new to the Combine Forum I used the approach of requesting info to try to get as much Un biased info as possible without mentioning the issues we had experienced , as I had been reading the combine forum for a while and I had seen the colour coming out in people , and I didn't want a bunch of buy this brand B.S. because it has to be better because I own one. When I re read my original post I can't seem to find the Geringhof bashing that you mention . I guess it is how a person interperets what they read. I do not see anywhere in the post where I say I have no experience with chopping heads , I do mention that I want to bale Fodder which we could not do directly behind the Geringhoff's , we had difficulty picking up the Fodder. We found them to be a good head as stated in my post , but high in maintainace , I see from recent posts some others are getting more acres on their disc's than we did , which is great , we just didn't experience that. To make it clear after running both the Geringhoff and Capello heads on our farm ,if I had to choose between the 2 it would be the Capello. Mark |

went from geringhoff none chopping to capello chopping. capello runs as easy as the geringhoff. capello puts more corn in the combine and geringhoff shells it all over the ground that was the biggest reason for the switch. geringhoff was dependable other then chains coming off a few times a day. 2500acres on capello with no problems.

Thanks for all the inputs! It seems like there is many happy owners of Capello head on this forum. Seems like I'm more confused than before though. I have to admit that my mind was almost set on a geringhoff but now I'm not so sure anymore.
The geringhoff plus: no knife blades and no need for any stompers Head is slightly lighter Capello : dependable head with few breakdowns less grain loss (only one guy mentionned it I like to see if others find that to?) Better in down corn Both head have good service, similar price and look to use similar HP. I should meet the capello guy again in late february. Since then hope more people will share their experience! It sucks to have to buy something when you couldn't try it before. |

We bought a fantini corn head two years ago after running a non chopping capello and I'll tell you there is nothing wrong with it either. Very well built head good chopping and 25k less than both the heads you are looking at.

We finally signed the papers today. We'll be harvesting with a folding geringhoff Elite RD head next fall. We almost bought a Capello until we saw the weight difference. When we first ask the rep he was wrong with its calculation. Folding capello weighs 4.2 T and geringhoff folding weighs 3 T. We really couldn't go without the folding in our condition with a 12 row. I think If we would have been in the market for a straight head it could have been different. Hopefully the changes they made on the new Elite serie will help on grain losses.
I asked the question on their forum but they kicked me out. I guess you aren't allowed to write Capello on their forum... They wrote me saying I was a salesman so they kicked me out... :-( Pretty stupid according to me. Wonder if they will allow me back after giving them more than a 100K... Your input were really appreciated and really helped me out in asking the right questions! Thanks again |
