True, but if your main cutting is canola stick with the 960, it's better than the 972 in canola.

Higher horsepower and I think the rotating screen cleaners were included.

I think the 972 has a different knife angle that allows you to cut lower and not push as much dirt.

That too but the 972 had a "U" channel wielded underneath the round tube in the windrow opening for frame strength which actually restricts the flow of canola.

for canola consider another brand. the reel cam is only on one side and will pile up when worked hard in canola, I have noticed that they have beefed it up on the new swathers. they still only have one cam on the right had side but the cam arms are now made of cast. Macdon do not have a parallel lift linkage so when you lift your header to avoid a pile, you have to lift your header too high before your hole size is increased. other brands will lift the rear tube parallel to the cutter bar. Your hole size is increased even if you only lift your header a little, a big advantage in canola.

Bought the 4900. Needs a bit of work but the price was right.
Thanks for the help.

Good to hear. If you need any help, let us know. Also you likely still can download the operators and parts manuals from the MacDon website.
