9680 and 9682 new holland transmission

Have heard of transmission problems with these series of tractors and was wondering if anyone out there can tell me anything. Heard it was some ideler gear or something. Is it hard to fix.

I have a 9680 with around 3200hrs on it, and have not had any problems. But i have never heard of anyone else having any problems either. It has been a good solid tractor for me.

12 speed can be fun to shift, but haven't heard of anything major.

Yes they do have a problem, my 9682 had 2800 hrs when it happen. I was told that it is a keeper on a gear rail. Neighbors 9680 did it too. Great tractor beside that problem.

Former boss had a 9682, around 2000 hours had to replace tranny. It was a 12 speed and a real pain in the butt to shift.

goblue, what did your tractor do? mine is making this snapping feeling every now and then. mostly when turning, so i don't know if it is the tractor or the cultivator. did you fix it yourself? Thanks.

It just started to jump out of gear. I ended up trading for a TJ375 and dealer fixed the tran.

9680 trans

Working on a 9680 trans right now. 1st and second gear syncronizer went south. This problem was not hard at all to fix. I just pulled the input shaft out, pulled gears off shaft and put it back. Just a little time to do it. Took about 10 hrs and few thousand dollars for parts. Also have had 3 ECM's go out in it. one a year for 3 years no and no warranty. So personally I don't like these tractors.

rooster72: It sounds like yours may have a bad cross in one of the universal joints.
