I'm looking at changing my auger to a 1000 rather than do tractors but Alberta said he was looking for a 8000 series tractor and had looked into this changeover. For a livestock operation I imagine the dual speed would be very important if you want to get maximum use out of the one main tractor.
Thanks Paul, appreciate the links to the info. I was a bit nervous seeing my name in the title lol, figured I'd peed in someones corn flakes again lol.
As for the two speed pto, be nice to have for sure, and since it is possible to find one with it, that is why it was on my radar. I'd forgot most of the info I had dug up before so its nice to have it again. Actually thinking of going for something newer than an 8400 now, long and short I'm better off to keep my 4850 with its 280 loader and just get a newer bigger one just for field work. An 840 loader and mounts for an 8XXX will cost me more than my old tractor and loader combined are worth.
Ya I see the loaders for the 8000s are pricey and theres few decent used ones.
