Is it just a noise, or is there vibration too?

A buddy had to pull the engine and put a center hub in the flywheel to get rid of his PTO vibration in his 4000 series MF.

Is there any slack in the driveline, or any seized u-joints?

I finally got the password thing figured out I will be the first to admit I am stupid about such things.
The pto gears do make noise with no load and at 1000 engine rpms . Have you ever listened to the transmission gears when you shut off the engine lots of rattling gears. The PTO should quiet down with speed and load. The first time I put a inline six in a 4880 at 800 RPM's the transmission rattled until we bumped the RPM"s to 1000 like a 903. Make sure there is no metal in the rear end. good luck
