Default Land levelers and Land planes

I was wondering how many guys on here use a land leveler or a land plane. Alot of people around here use to use them but not much anymore. If you do use one do you have any pictures? or a brand name I can look up. I will be taking over the rent on two farms and I would like to level them both. What do you all feel is the best way to level a field.
Thank you

We have a big Holcomb land plane, but haven't used it in ages. There are several different kinds in the area, but since no one does furrow irrigation anymore they no longer have any use. We've also got a really old Eversman that we used to use for grading the drive, but it broke one too many times. I'll try to get a pic of the Holcomb sometime.

Do you mean something like a box scraper? or is a land plane much bigger?

What are you trying to level? Old furrows or bad burrowing animal mounds or "large hills"

Hi farmboy9510,

We use a land leveler on our operation, its a 30ft RJ (http://www.rjequipment.net/) truth be told we lost it last year in a fire, but our new one is sitting at the dealers right now. Not much has changed on the new one, they are built very heavy duty and I loved the job our last one did and expect this one to be no different. RJ manufactures them in sizes from 20 to 40ft, but from what I can see they do not have any pictures on their site.

I find the best way to level a field depends on the roles and holes you are trying to eliminate, but for the most part we run it at a 45 degree angle to the traditional direction of the rows.

Now it does a great job and you will notice a difference the very first time you use it, but if you use it constantly over the years you will notice a bigger improvement in the land.

I don't have any pictures at the moment, but when we pick up the new one soon, I will take some and post them if you like.

Any questions, ask away

There are a bunch of pictures of one of those on the boards somewhere. Problems is, it's been a while and I can't remember where the thread is or who posted it.
