Custom Seeding

With the land rents becoming unaffordable in our area I was wondering if there was much demand for any custom seeding this spring? Have a newer SCT SeedHawk putting down all dry product. Would putting on an NH3 kit be worth it? Could just come with the drill or with semi to tender also. Willing to travel south to hopefully start earlier than in our area which is usually mid May.

What do you charge? Say on 3 products (your tender) seed / Fert / bagged granular

That would depend on the amount of acres someone wants done. I am a farmer and would be more that reasonable with rates. I think with higher volume products like peas would be in the $25/ac range and lentils would be around $22/ac, again depending on the amount of acres. These rates would likely be for at least 1500-2000 acre min. plus fuel. I haven't checked around with anyone yet to see what their rates are but I would be competitive with them, these rates are just going off some that I have heard in other areas. Sound reasonable? To high? To low? I think with the sectional control my acres would be more than reasonable and if doing canola cutting the seeding rate from 5 lbs to 3 lbs, at today's prices, would almost pay for the custom seeding.

No that's sounds reasonable, I'll keep you in mind. How far southwest would you go? Typically we are ready to seed April 25th in our area... I'm 55 km west of Moose Jaw.

As of right now I am committed to start nearby by the beginning of May. Would like to start somewhere mid-April and offer someone a good 10 days of seeding.

On the conservative side I would hope to do at least 250 to 350 acres per day. Depending on how much filling and if the fields are open or if you are blessed with moisture and pot holes like us.
