Tip selection 101
Hey there. One of the most asked questions when it comes to spraying is "Which tip should I use?".
The next thing you might hear after asking that question is, "Well... I can't really 'recommend' a tip". As you might be familiar with, some service people/dealers might give the reason from a long list:
-"I don't know" (lack of knowledge or familiarity)
-"I can't say" (Liability side - limiting suggestion to reduce chance of repercussion)
-"Well, most use X" (base the decision on what is popular/sold recently)
The above are not necessarily wrong things to say, but they tend to take the most important thing out of the equation. The field - the actual farmer's conditions, crops, applications that are almost unique to that farmer.
I feel strongly that there are multitudes of farmers who could get better results in their applications if they were asked the right questions when picking tips. At the same time, I know how frustrating it is when you ask a question, and that happens is you get asked questions. But, like any farmer knows, the work you put into the front end, means the solution is going to work out better. (Not all the time, but you know what I mean)
If you use a different make of tips, not a problem, I'm still here to help. As you can appreciate, I would have a better knowledge on the Wilger side than competitor tips, but that doesn't mean it isn't transferable.
I will have a few materials and guides posted in here as well for those who are lurking in the shadows in the forum which might be very useful information for you as well.
SO, that's what this sub-forum will be. I want to hear your stories, your fields, your troubles, and I'll help you through as I can.
