Default FS: Kinze KPM II Monitor & SMART seed sensors

We have one used KPM II monitor and 16 seed tubes with SMART sensors for sale. Monitor and all sensors were functional at the time we removed it from our Kinze 3000 series planter. Reason for removing was because we installed Precision Planting's 20/20 SeedSense monitor along with their new WaveVision seed sensors this past spring. The seed tubes are like new.

* KPM II Monitor is priced at $500
* Seedtubes with SMART sensors are prices at $30 each.

Where are you located and would the seed tubes fit 7000 series JD planting units.

Weapon,

We are located in West-Central Indiana.

I believe the seed tubes will fit a 7000 series row unit, but I am not 100% sure at the moment. I would need to try them on a row unit to be absolutely sure. I put them up against a replacement seed tube for a 7000 series row unit, and they appeared to be almost identical in all the critical dimensions and attachment points. Are you wanting/needing the 1/2" or 3/4" sensor hole?

I'm looking to retrofit my 7000 to your unit. I'm 16 units and my old JD monitor will only cover 12 units and would like to see the rest. Do you have the cabling from the sensors to the monitor or is that something I'd need to get?

Thanks, John

John,
I left the base wiring harness on the planter. Kinze bundled the round trailer plug cable (lights, flashers, etc.) along with the 3 wire "planter harness" cable in to one wiring loom. I would have preferred to take it off the planter, but I would have lost my lighting also, so I kept it in place.

That being said, you would need a harness for your planter configuration. There are a couple places out there that should have a standard replacement already, and if not, they can probably make one up fairly easily for your configuration. If you need some references, let me know, and I can suggest a couple.

You are probably already aware, the Kinze KPM II monitor and Smart Sensors are basically a networked system. There is no big AMP plug that contains a feedback wire for each row sensor. The sensors basically take turns communicating on the "network" with the monitor. This made for a simplified wiring harness, which was one of Kinze's goals at the time.

I do have the owner/operators manual for the monitor also, which I forgot to mention in my original post.

Feel free to give me a call one evening if you have questions or want to discuss in more detail.
Thanks,
Gary

Thanks Planterman, sounds like it wouldn't be that hard to build up the harness with the proper terminations and wire. I'll get a hold of you in the next couple of days. I'll check on the seed tube and sensor compatablity with my planter.

Thanks again, John
