Where are Canola pricing going in the next year?

Just curious what your opinion are as far as selling canola with in the next few months?

The prices don't look too bad at the moment, yet more is always better.

However an article in the latest Wester Producer caught my attention. It stated that the future commodity prices are going to take a pretty big hit in the near future.

Is there any truth to this prediction?
I figure with the demand in China prices would continue to climb.

Any feed back would greatly be appreciated.

That's the age old question. If you can figure that out with certainty please PM me.

Especially with Statscan's latest guess on canola acreage and average yields...they are expecting canola production to hit 15 million tonnes...the target canola council set to hit in 2015. Now take that with a huge grain of salt...as it statscan's best guess 4 months prior to seeding.

we learned to bet against the Western Seducer.
in 2008 they wrote an article about 15-16 dollar canola for 2008 crop, guess most guys remembered that they sold most their canola for 2008 for around 10 instead of 15-16 so they are wrong. the way that demand for food is right now no way on earth prices will go down, you seen the price of oil recently? food will go up too, just a question of how long the fert companies can keep there prices as high as they are.

Canola was 14.50 a bushel in 08 but we didn't have much left. In the fall of 08 I could have locked in 14.75 canola but of course I never.

Cargill will lock it in at $11.25/bushel for October and November. That is the best i have found this week, however I didn't pull the trigger yet.

Things to watch in the world:

South American weather and crops
Corn prices and the USA Gov'ts Ethanol programs
Soybeans and their genetics for a healthy oil soybean

Farmtech speakers say 12 is all the money for old crop, 11 for new crop. Greg Kostal is firm in his believe in the next 18 months we will see 9 dollar Generic canola.
