I am getting alot of stubble damage on my 9560 sts, with 6 row 30" head. The front tires run right on outside rows and cannot be moved to straddle. I am thinking on installing stalk stompers. I have a 693 head with knife rolls and am cutting the stalks down to 8" or less. Has anyone had trouble with them not doing the job or messing with auto header height and contour master? I have had other combines with this head that ran on the row with no problems, but now I cut the stalks short to get under the lodged ears and field condition don't seem to matter. Any help would be great.

I run a 606c with stompers on every row. the header height and contour works just fine. Really flattens the stalks out nice. I got mine from shoup. There a pain when putting the head on the cart. I have to take them off. Takes about 10mins.

Hi all, I'd recommend you take a look at Stalk Crusher (in full disclosure our product) to help you flatten stalks. We have some videos on the website Stalk Crusher and we'd be happy to answer any questions in your evaluation of products, good luck! -SC

I have delt with many of the companies that have their version of stalk stompers and the most user friendly that I have found are from Lankota in Huron South Dakota, nice people to deal with. Their version mounts pretty easily and if you need to take one off to put on a trailer, pull one pin and one of the shoes will come right off, flip it vertically and it has a self storage mount that you store it in untin you take it off of the trailer. Just my 2 cents....

fyi - as another option: www.stalkhog.com
Tuthill has announced the release of Stalk Hog for the John Deere 600 series of combine/corn headers. Both JD608 and JD612 are available to order. Stalk Hog extends the life of tires by minimizing the damage caused by the tires knocking down stalks. Additional model numbers will be released in the coming month. For more information about Stalk Hog, vist their website www.stalkhog.com or call 219-279-2801. |

NDY mfg has a new quick pin disconnect stalk stomper available to eliminate this problem. I always had a problem when putting on the head cart that i would have to remove the stalk stomper with the old style we had. We bought ours this year from Sloan Express.
