Default Testing Deere grain loss sensor pads

Hi
Does anyone know how to test if the grain loss sensing pads are working? Can I hook up my multimeter and tap on them?

Thanks
Mark

What series of combine are you working with? The are some "self-diagnostics" for them if you are on a newer combine.

Simple job that, just get a bucket of grain, sit someone in the cab and then trickle grain over the sensor and you should get a reading. thats how we used to do it fitting RDS loss monitors to combines.

You can go into the diagnostic address and it will show you the strike count. If you hit it 10 times, it should show 10 in the display. If the number is way off, then you know something is wrong. You can switch pads around to see if the problem follows. This is also a good way to determine if the pad is bad, or if something else in the system is bad. Depending on your series I have the address #'s if you told me what combine you have.

The way to do it without the addresses is to have someone in the cab with the key on, engine off and header engaged. Turn the sensitivity number down to 1. (1 bar per strike I believe) have someone tap the sensors with a pocket screwdriver lightly and as quick as possible. Once the center bar graph goes up over two bars honk the horn and proceed to the next one. Of you want the addresses posted I have them written down at work.
Key is to have two guys and header switch has to be engaged.
