Smile S680 or 8230

Has anyone seen these machines (S680 / 8230) working side by side or in similar crops and conditions.
We want to change from a CR9070 to either a S680 or 8230.
Haven't had anything to do with a John Deere before so any advice on how they perform would be great.

Cheers

LOl. I went the other way. 9770 never liked it much, demoed the 680 I didn't think the large price increase was worth it. Bought a cr. I thought it made a better sample less loss lower cost. That's in wheat, canola peas barley.

Yeah we are unsure which way to go, never had a John Deere before and unsure exactly how they will go. I guess a lot of it comes down to back up support and both Case and John Deere are quite good here.
The prices i have received have been much the same and machines quoted as close to each other as i can. What crop did you demo 680 in?
I seen one working in a wheat crop just over the 3t/ha 140km east of where i am and to be honest it didn't really show me anything special just more confused because, its always better to see it on you're own farm and put it through its paces.

I demoed the 680 in hard red wheat it was running 100 bu/acre. I thought it had enough power, mind you dry conditions, it was similar to the 9770 in the fact if you pushed it it was throwing over more than I like. Less whitecaps because of the rethresher. I'd say about 10% larger than the 9770, the cab was much nicer and I thought it fed better. It has the same computer that I find hard to use even with the upgrade. The price difference for me was the problem. I got the cr for significantly cheaper.

Well if you had reliability problems with your NH why would you expect a much different experience from Case? They come out of the same factory built side-by-side. If your only reason in switching is because you didn't think the NH was well-built, I would think you could cross the Case right off the list as well. After 4 years of a 7010/8120 side by side with our JD our experience is the JD has had a fraction of the down time. How there new S-Series with preform is really anybody's guess on a first year new model intro.

Yeah,, there is very little difference, and with the issues u had, the case will have the very same parts, if agco was an option I would "look but dont touch" atleast for a few years, go deere unless lexion is considered.. Hope it helps.

Thanks for you're input guys, still tossing up between them.
That is the only concern for me is the fact they have same parts only differnce on this side would be the back up.
With the S680 there is the option to take out extra warranty, do many operators over there in US or Canada buy that? It will cost $4500 and $500 excess on every claim. The warranty runs for 1000hrs.
