i am new to the fourm an new to combines. iv got a 9750sts an it has large wire in it. is that ok to cut wheat with or will i have to change out to small or round wire. the guy i bought it from said he cut wheat with it last fall but im just wanting to make sure before harvest starts if i need to change somethings

Do you guys plant hard red winter or soft? I cut some soft wheat in east Texas last year that threshed incredibly easy. The large wires might have worked in something like that. I am sure everyone would recommend buying some small wires. God bless your harvest this year...

It took all 3 small wire concaves with all 6 covers (fillers) on the front concave to thresh HRS Glenn wheat this fall. Glenn does have a reputation for hard threshing. It's like the old Neepawa that taught us a lot about getting a combine to thresh. Excess returns were the problem. If you aren't overloading the return too badly take out the cover in front of the return first. That lets threshed grain through, but the covers behind the return get a good second go at the returns
