Do you guys plant hard red winter or soft? I cut some soft wheat in east Texas last year that threshed incredibly easy. The large wires might have worked in something like that. I am sure everyone would recommend buying some small wires. God bless your harvest this year...

With a 50 series you will need small wire and some fillers for wheat .

It took all 3 small wire concaves with all 6 covers (fillers) on the front concave to thresh HRS Glenn wheat this fall. Glenn does have a reputation for hard threshing. It's like the old Neepawa that taught us a lot about getting a combine to thresh. Excess returns were the problem. If you aren't overloading the return too badly take out the cover in front of the return first. That lets threshed grain through, but the covers behind the return get a good second go at the returns

We run large wire in our 9650 and 9750 for every thing from peas to wheat and canola and flax. Just use fillers as need be.
