Default 9860 in rice

We started in rice today, nobody on our farm has ever harvested rice. Our 9860 has the powercast tailboard on it and it kept choking up so we folded the chopper up and unhooked the powercast and we're windrowing the straw now. Does anyone have any info on how we can make the powercast spread and not choke or are we better off windrowing it?? The rice cutting in the 130-170 bushel range and we're running a macdon 974. I would also like any other info on setting the machine up or tips would be greatly appreciated.
