Default old versatile's Drawbar

I have an 875 versatile. For those of you that own those era versatiles or are familliar with them, I was wondering if there should be any drawbar adjustment on the side to side action? Ever since I have owned this tractor there is an inch or two of side to side movement at the back of the drawbar, is the typical?

Thanks for the help.

On the back of our 875 drawbar there is two pins one on either side of the drawbar to lock the drawbar from swinging. The drawbar will wear a grove where the pins go which will allow some side to side movement.

Yes. The 2 pins with the small chains attached to them...Mine are obviously the originals, they are worn really thin in the middle, and my drawbar has a groove worn on each side where is has rubbed. I have seen people just use bolts after there pins wear out. I wasn't aware that it was made to lock in place.? So even with a new pin it would slide side-to-side some? This is new to me because all of our row crop tractors have stationary drawbars that don't move side to side. Is it made to slide that way to put less fatigue on the implements hitch with the articulated turning? I guess I can understand that an articulated tractor is is going to be a somewhat more abusive on an implement hitch??

Just to clarify-I am not referring to the fact that you can pull a pin and swing the drawbar to the side, I am actually talking about a side to side movement with the 2 pins in place, an inch or two each direction.

Two inches sounds like a lot but maybe try get new pins I believe they are 1 inch then 2 heavey wall pipe spacers short enough to go between top and bottom plates with 1 inch centres that should take up most of the slack and the larger outer diameter should slow the wear considerably.

Versatiles of that era didn't exactly have stellar drawbar setups, things were pretty basic back then.

Normal wear, replace pins, pull draw bar out and build up where pins have worn into, bet wear block is basically gone , also how much medal is gone off top of draw bar, if its getting thin cut out and replace, Scott.

I studied my drawbar a little more today, I am not sure exactly what has been done. The pins are worn really thin, I'm guessing originals (4000 hrs). There has been a new wear block put on by previous owner (unpainted thats how I could tell). What I can't figure out is, I think there has purposely been a half circle cut out of each side of the drawbar where the pins would rub, its just to perfect for it to just be wear...? I would say as it sits now, the drawbar will go 1 inch or a little more each direction when centered, but part of that is due to a 1/2 inch or so half circle cut/worn in drawbar. I am sure I probably could invest in some new pins, but that won't solve it from going back and forth some (because of notches), Is some back and forth movement correct?

Any reply appreciated.
Thanks.

On my 936 the drawbar is cut out so that the pins fit in the drawbar somewhat. We always put the pins to the outside when chisel plowing to alleviate stress on the implement.
