I am having issues with a 97' 2188, the unload auger will stop going out/in and the header will quit lifting/going down sporatically, they both act up at the same time, if you idle the engine down it will help move them but it gets frustrating. Sometimes this will happen 20 times an hour, sometimes not at all. Where do I start fixing?

I have had an engine oil pressure sending unit go bad and the header would not go up or down. It was an older machine, I don't know if CaseIH still did that on a 2188. Somekind of a safety system I guess.

We changed the engine oil pressure switch but the header still hesitates when trying to lift/lower, the auger still moves in and out when it feels like it, anyone have any ideas what I can try next? They both act up at the same time/will work good at the same time. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

When this problem occurs have you noticed wether or not u loose engine rpm read out on the A post if so try checking speed sensor adjustment on aux belt drive pulley and maybe even replace. Also i have had these terminator type diode modules play up. There is one located behind the service door next to the cab door and should be under the main valve stack. The other one is deep down under fuse panel toward rear of the cab normally. They just look like a blanking cap on a plug that goes nowhere and have like duck bill on them. Dont get confused with the splice joints that are similar but that just look like a fuseable link under the cap where as the diode module will be sealed unit.
hope this helps. |
