Just went through all the same questions and thoughts as you are having now. I recently purchased a 2388 here in southern ohio and wondered myself how the prices could be so dramatically different. As someone previously mentioned maintenance and new parts mean a bunch. The combines I was looking at were 99 -03 models....4wd ,chopper,RT.....HRS between 1500 and 2100. I could find These combines ranging from 80-120,000. Of course year, hours, options should be the biggest factor but also how well the general appearance is and if the machine has been properly cleaned and stored means a great deal to me and should also be with you. I believe a huge part of the price factor is how much the dealer gave for a trade in...providing a dealer has it. Many of them want you to pay for their mistakes. They also offer financing and will take trades if your not into selling your old stuff!! To me that means a lot....I hate selling stuff. I found a local machine and it was in the best shape of all the combines that I looked at but I would have had to sold my old machine so I opted not to go that route. Bought one with a few more hours on it for the same money just so I could get rid of my old one.
Some dealers are just rediculous on their price. Do your homework and shop around, hire someone to inspect the machine if your not familiar with them and when the time comes to fork over the bucks feel confident in what ur doin. |
