I have to say the GVL II has held up well on my 1083 Case IH head I have picked a few rock and pushed alot of snow, really like how mine open, I think they offer two ways with GVL for the hugger
I have a neighbor that has poly snouts on a hugger head ( I don't know what kind they are) but they are too long to use in terraces and end rows with tight corners because of knocking too much corn down. Just a heads up if you are in hills or irregular fields. Be aware of the length of the snouts before buying, they work nice in the right place. LOL
GVL uses end snouts that are only half length vs Agco that has snouts that go all the way back to cover the auger. Anybody have any experience with the pros and cons of this? GVL also has a different design on the center snouts than Agco, better or worse?
Put set of GVL on our hugger 2 yrs ago. They have held up well. Snouts are too tall and point where snout and divider connect is further forward of original tin. In down corn stalks tend to push more. Think they were about half price of AGCO. If going to keep head for several years would consider AGCO.

Do you have any problems or concerns with the outside snouts not being full length like original ones? Evidently you must have had some issues with the point where the snout and divider meet being too far forward?
The opening for the row(between snouts) is taller and narrower than original. Very similar to older IH. Lodged stalk will break or roots pull out of ground before roll and chains have a chance to grab it. One thing about it, you won't need ear savers. When we bought ours, AGCO didn't have original tin available and plastic was backordered. Not that bad, just not as good as original in down conditions.
Thanks again for your replies. I did make a deal on a late model hugger with factory poly. Felt that moving to a newer head might be money better spent.
