Forecast remainder of big wind and rain storm splits and now headed north. I only measured about 2 inches of rain here last 24 hours. Rivers locally have or are cresting now and snow runoff has eased with colder temps and warm wind shifting away.Just walked out around my fields that are visible and am guessing at around a 20% wheat loss. Some washed away and some buried in mud and sand. Neighbours boy out early this morning with a loader and pushed enough rock up to open at least a one lane road on the county road in a couple places. With so many road and bridge washouts it's going to be awhile 'fore the county can repair this one. My rip rap back on the santiam river held up well and protected my back fields from washing away. Neighbour downstream has refused to rip rap to protect his farm and lost another couple hundred ft deep of river frontage. Another couple hundred ft and he'll most likely lose about a hundred acres of lower and right nice farm ground. He's stubborn city boy not a farmer and insists the govt' should pay and do the work. That aint gonna happen, the core of engineers has repeatedly said they wont do any more river protection work and just call the entire area a river meander line area. That includes our farms. In fact the county, state and feds all got onto me for riprapping and protecting my little farm. Hauled the rock reshaped river bank and paid for it all myself and it works. In return the govt agencies all threatened to sue me to remove the riprap and haul it off. You just gots to love those govt agency people, especially their engineers and lawyers. I dont think theres 10 cents worth of common sense or brains in the entire bunch, If there is I sure haven't seen it put to good use.
Colder out now and hopefully no more flood this winter. It will take many weeks for the lakes to go away on mine and some of my neighbours farms. A spring cleanup and possible replant is going to be a close call. May have towait for summer to be able to repair the flood damage for a next fall planting. Dwight E. Lambert, Albany, Oregon

Santiam river runs thru the beack of my little farm and yesterday dropped about a foot below flood my place level. 3 people washed away and drowned in the recent flood here. 2 people on life support for over a week now from flood. Many rescued from vehicles washed off roads. Going to take some time for bridge and road repair work. Quite a few vehicles and farm equipment damaged or submerged by the recent flood. I still have about half my wheat ground under water 2-3foot deep for 2 weeks now. Some wheat washed out and some buried under sand, mud and debri. Wheat that didn't get submerged is looking good and i'm guessing at about a 20-25% wheat loss. Just have to hope for a good crop and sell price for whats left. I think my new N6 is a little sad since it wont have as mutch wheat to smash up this year. I suppose the boys down under are having a good crop this year and are busy finishing it up. Lets all hope for a good crop and sell price for all this year. Next 2 weeks are forecast dry here and with most of the low hills snow melted off from the last storm the rivers should recede and we can get to work repairing some of the damage. Heck of a note when a guy does the best he can and then the weather takes away a lot of his work. At least I had all my equipment up on high ground so no loss there.

Interesting, just clicked on the Farm Equipment Headquarters site. That has a link to AGCO, on combines they show Challenger and Massey combines and info. Picture of a Silver Gleaner only no info. I thought the G in AGCO was Gleaner? Perhaps the intention is to phase out Gleaners and just sell the red and yellow combines. Sure didn't show any specs or anything more than the 2 Silver pictures. Appears that the emphasis is on the red and yellow combines, not the Silver ones. Maybe the intent is to let the silver ones join the Orange tractors to be in memory only.
Wasn't looking for a combine anyways, was just jotting down the FEH phone # to see if the N6 they took in trade last fall has been brought to their trap yet. Supposedly it has good chaeffer and seive screens that I need for my new N6. Used hydraulic feed reverser complete they said they had the last time I checked. Sure dreading that 275 mile drive to go get parts that I need. Might be a dreaded drive but it sure is worthwhile to have the Gleaner. ![]() Dwight E. Lambert, Albany, Oregon |

Still on hold for a good chaeffer and seive for my new N6. So far all i've looked at were pretty close to total wear out. Waiting now for news on another set that FEH took in trade but hasn't decided yet wether to scrap the N6 or try to sell it.
I haven't removed my old feedhouse reverser yet. Was hopeing to obtain a used one reasonable to just swap out the entire unit. Change the hoses right quick and avoid leaking a lot of the fluid out. My old reverser went to breaking the feeder house belt and finally throwing sparks when engaged. No oil leaking out of the current unit. I guess my thought is, is there a possibility that my reverser problem is the clutch assembly and not the pump itself. Anyone have a good clutch assembly, complete unit or have a suggestion for a source. Found the I think complete clutch assembly on line in the AGCO parts book. # 71329940. Perhaps someone has an extra clutch assembly setting on their shelf 4 sale? My new N6 is serial #8892 and possibly earlier prior #7000 reversors and clutch assemblies are different? Most likely the same unit on N5-6-7 maybe even later models? Got quite awhile fore next falls harvest (or whats left of it) so I'm not in a big hurry to obtain the needed parts (yet). Thanks to all for the expertise and help since i'm still a'learn'n on my new N6. Dwight E. Lambert, Albany, Oregon (still hangn' on here on the wet, muddy and washed out end of starvation flats)

there was a reverser kicking around e-bay a while ago, just type in Gleaner, and see what wonders you can find

gmguy, thanks for the suggestion on the reverser. I have 2 complete used reversers located/available. Bracket, clutch, hoses complete. Since i've never took a reverser apart I kinda wonder if in fact it is just the clutch/drive that has went to disassembling itself. The hydraulic motor runs and doesn't leak. I am hopeing to just replace complete used working unit quickly and without losing a lot of the fluid. After I get the old one off i'll know how the clutch/drive is attached to the motor shaft. Possibly it only needs the clutch drive assembly replaced? Especially possible since it runs and doesn't leak fluid. Have you or anyone else reading this ever removed the clutch/drive assembly? Not able to see a lot with it still mounted on the N6. The AGCO diagram doesn't seem clear in the parts picture of how it's held to the motor. Nut/bolts, roll pin. spring clips, what does hold it to the motor and can it be removed/replaced without disconnecting the hoses? The chaeffer and seive screens seem to be right hard to find in good condition. The 2 screens are my holdup for now and I'm hopeing someone will give me some good info on the checking/replacing of the clutch/drive assembly. Guess I can just remove/diconnect the hoses and place a bucket to catch the drip out fluid. Then I can take it to the work bench and figure it out. Hate to purchase a used complete assemby if it only needs external clutch assembly. I can't be the only one thats had a problem with the reverser so hopefully some direct expereince info will be forthcomeing.
Thanks again for the 'find it' suggestion. Dwight E. Lambert, Albany, Oregon Still got some small lakes on feild from last months floods, so be awhile for I can try to level some areas, pick up debri and possibly replant those areas with spring wheat. Fall wheat was looking right good 'fore that flood, moajority of my feilds still look good. Now if I just didn't have the trees, debri, washouts and tractor sized holes to contend with!

GleanerHugger, thanks for the reply on the needed screens. Checked a map and Winnipeg for example is roughly 1500 miles from here. First question I guess is what would you want for the pair of screens wrapped in cardboard, marked do not stack, fragile and this end up deliverd to a major trucking drop off other than UPS or Fed Ex.?? In the past i've used a trucking broker for space available and it was doable $ wise that aways.
So far neither Walter Imp. in Washington nor FEH Oregon has come up with any. FEH has a pair in a took in trade N6 but they haven't decided wether to scrap or sell the N6 complete. I passed up $2,500 for a pair of N6's with wheat headers at Klamath falls about 2 yrs ago due to the transport cost. Considered sell one , part one out. Just what I need more junk around here, plus they were pre series 3 models. I've still got about 5 months to find 'em 'fore 2012 harvest. Thanks for the reply, Dwight E. Lambert, Albany, Oregon Dried enough here to get the trees and debri out of my feilds and patch my access roads. Hopefully dry enough to plant some of the washed out and buried in mud areas with soft spring wheat. The holes i'll have to wait 'till after 2012 harvst to work on. 'sides I think my get up and go has done got up and gone. Getn' lazier every year, keeps goin' on thisaways I wont be good for anything pretty soon but a bad example
