How is the 2009 potato harvest going in your area? Wet and dragging out up here in Maine. Yields look better than expected this year. Snow in the forecast for tomorrow...

In Manitoba we are done but there are still afew guys with some left to harvest and we have snow and -5 nights so what ever is left won't be good quality. Yeilds were above average. Had two weeks with 30 degree weather so most shut down in the afternoon or didn't dig at all then it rained and cooled down then started to snow in the third week and slowed everything down and eventually everything stopped. Did see some trucks on the road yesterday but can't have been fun. Really wierd weather all summer.

my neighbors only finished the last of their potatoes on thursday (oct 22). some guys in the area were done about a week before. it was a long harvest for them, high temperatures in september and rain/snow in october really slowed things down. there were also some fields that got frost damage, but nothing too serious from the sounds of it. tks, what part of MB are you from?

Watch the link and see how alberta did this year, if we had to dig like this evry year, it would be too easy...
