looking at a 2012 540c 850 sep. hrs. is there any big improvements as the years get newer? 2014's seem to be a lot more money but appear to be the same machine. only work order on the machine had to do with a noisy threshing system engagement clutch.condition is very nice and clean.

check to see if updates were done to it. Check cleaning fan housing if it is bolted together or spot welded. If spot welded check for cracks AGCO did a change up on these in 2015 for all 2014 models as the welded units were too rigid and would crack. Check Pre Sieve if it has the extension in it if not make sure you get it big improvement in clean wheat sample. It is called pre sieve extension kit. Make sure it comes with restrictor bars and concave blanks.

what SK Farmer says plus..

the cleaning fan cage is a Big one. I just found out this morning that my 9540 had it done.. it is a 45 hr job to change it out.. thrush washers in tranny, the coupler between Hydro motor and tranny needs to have an internal Lube line installed. brakes updated, check the universal joint on the bubble up auger(they came with a grease jerk but no mention of it in the owner's manual so most weren't)
also I believe there was an update to the clutches (motor to gear box back to rotor) mine had something done.

If you're looking a 9540 over how can you tell if the cleaning fan housing was updated? This particular machine had several FC's completed but nothing relating to the cleaning fan. I may not have the complete history. Just looking for visual clues. The parts book doesn't help much.

When the change over is done the entire fan housing is all bolted together not spot welded.
