if someone is interested in getting a 1200 vario header, ours is for sale..... like swman says it works great in canola, in general nice smooth feeding in all crops for that matter . it's in pretty nice shape, can include wagon with it. but it's not meant for cutting soybeans or shaving ground which is why it's for sale. .

We straight cut canola with a 635f deere. It is a great way to cut and I have a feeling a maxflex would be just as good. The head never limited harvest speed.

Think thereís a 10 minute warning as well.
No such a thing as accidentally running out of fuel anyway.
There was a demo unit running around here this fall that they ran out of fuel. With the Claas sales guy, it ok theres lots of fuel left. Followed shortly by a rapid loss of power and an engine that wouldn't restart. Ooops.

Do these headers have retractable teeth the whole length of auger? When we updated our auger header, their agco headers, the old one didn't have the retractable teeth and the new one does, sure makes a difference. How close can you cut realistically with the Vario?

Certainly not getting messages I’ve seen.
Could easily be all avoided however by a “comes full/leaves full” dealer policy.

it doesn't have skid plates, doesn't flex. . It's okay for cutting lodged crops on dry land, as long as it's not extremely lodged. . it can cut 2 inches high but u feel when it hits the ground versus suspended, and it's just not designed to cut on the ground all day long like a FD or max flex . it has sensoring bands to follow the ground, not sensors attached to cutter bar like the max flex does. has full retraxting fingers the whole length of the auger. it is a 2011 so it's not like it's worn out.

I'm in not terrible but somewhat rolling country, I just can't give up the wonderful suspension of an FD, likely a FD1 next year and definitely lateral tilt control.

the vario is a awesome header, when I had the combine it was on for a few hours I was actually amazed how quiet and smooth it ran. smoothness is very close to a macdon! . . but it still can't cut soybeans
