Macdon 974 Drive Roller Rubber

Putting new belt on the right side of a Macdon 974 and found the ends of the drive roller is worn away from the ends. This should be replaced, right? Is the only option a new Macdon part or are there other ways?
Thanks for your help! kuturfrm

I had the same issue last year- Cheap easy solution. Is it the right one? Likely not but I have 3000 acres on the fix. Pull your canvas off at the corners - Grab a roll of 3m 23- Make sure to stretch tight and roll on the roller against direction of roller toward center. This is only some cheap ass farmer advice - you should likely replace the entire roller per manufacturer recommendations..

Hey, thanks. We used Gorilla brand duct tape to patch the hole a piece of wood made in the belt I'm replacing. Ran for 200-300 acres. - kuturfm

Have the same issue on 2162 (FD-70). I have been considering trying a conveyor urethane roller cover on those end sections. Just started researching and haven't taken any measurements to see if plausible. Got put on hold with start of sunflower harvest. Would be a lot cheaper than replacing the whole roller.
