Cab you call MacDon directly? OR get someone/the right person at the factory and work from that end? And yes I know that the time zones make it a pain in the A*se

I was advised by another dealer to request “my” dealer to fix the (PD) problem. If they can’t, they should get the MacDon specialist to come along & set it up correctly.
I rang ..... they talked lots .....they’re dumb founded as to “the problem” ..... so fukit...... I just did it myself.
The bit that really gives me the sh.ts is I’ve f...ken paid for the PD in the purchase price. I expect to get what I’ve paid for. I don’t see that as an unreasonable request.

What’s the relationship with the dealer like pre-this? (I think I can guess...)

I hate to suggest it but you may need a legal option, to tune/smarten them up a bit? It’ll likely turf the relationship though.

Agree paying for something and not receiving it is complete BS!

This is the RHS as it’s the easiest to take a picture of.

So the tech instructions say to set cutterbar 15-25 cm above level ground and lock the main float, but unlock the wings. Make sure main float is on the downstops. I would guess that the header angle should be 1/2 way between B and C on the indicator and the reel at position 4-5. Then is says to make sure that the top of the bottom link channel (bottom yellow line in your picture) lines up with the white decal on the inside of the leg (top yellow line in your picture).

First you have to set the header float with the big coil springs and the wing flex locked. Make sure the wings are actually locked, not just the little wire in the picture of the lock. If the balance is way off the wing flex may need help to lock.

Then set the wing balance. MacDon website has videos showing how to do the header float and the wing balance, but I have not actually watched them. I find that the wing balance beam needs to sit nicely inside the flat bars that go on each side of it when returning to neutral to be balanced correctly (sorry for the poor description). The white metal indicators can be bent to point at the center once the balance beam is centered. Often the white metal indicators get bent during shipping and don't point where they should.

Then you adjust the vertical compression link to be at the white line. Most likely you will have to keep readjusting the wing balance each time you make an adjustment on the vertical compression link.

My header is not home right now, so can't actually measure mine to get you a starting point for length.

“Lock the float ...... unlock wings” Yes, realise you have to do the main float weight first to get it even, but if the wings were way out of balance, wouldn’t adjusting the compression rods before the wings were somewhere near right, wouldn’t that really affect the wing balance? Just trying to get my head around this adjustment as it would most likely affect the other.

Yep, did that first. It’s set at “2” via the majestic torque tool on both sides.... & backed off one turn (each) on the RHS.

Then set the wing balance. MacDon website has videos showing how to do the header float and the wing balance, but I have not actually watched them. Yep, MacDon videos are very good here. Read the OM .... then watch the videos ..... 👍

👍

Thanks for your help. Be grateful if the tech manual was a PDF & I could read it.

I only got a photo of the 1 page from the tech manual sent to me when I was having trouble getting my header adjusted. I was sure the vertical pipe was wrong as the black plate was 6-8 cm off the white mark just like yours. Went back to the beginning and redid all the adjustments and once done the black plate was within 1 cm of the white mark and everything worked well. Never did have to adjust the vertical pipe. Don't think it ever was adjusted right from the pre delivery inspection as the wing locks never did seem to latch in properly.

Yes ......... & I've gained control as well!

It all seems OK at this stage but would love the tech manual specs just in case I need to start from scratch again.

I know it's probably some sort of "syndrome" ....... however, I find operators manuals & technical manuals such enlightening documents. Especially when you want to make something work properly.
madsnake and adsinaus like this.

Good, I have one more setting experiment I’m going to do Tuesday (Canadian) that will put the final touch on setting procedure.
Can finish my report then.

Not the handiest area to measure but 800 mm center to center of eyelets Rod.
When will you be using it?
