sunflowers header?

i have small amount of sunflowers i need to harvest soon, about 15 acres. planted them for fun. i have access only to a corn header or a regular small grains header ie: wheat. so i read losses can be high with a corn header when the heads shatter and the seeds falls onto the ground hence the pans? would cutting off only the heads with a wheat header be better? it should catch all the seed no?

Yes, use a platform header instead of corn header. Your biggest problem will be your reel hooking heads. Just keep it high and turning slow. You'll have losses but you said it was for fun right?

It’s not a header question but. Seeding sunflowers is it a must to seed with a planter or can I seed with just with a air drill. And at what population?
