Depends on the area you are in and the crops you will be trying to thrash. Around here a 40ft would be suicide for a 2388. Some conditions make a 40ft work a 8010 pretty hard.

The older 36' FD was too heavy for a 2388. 3rd lift cylinder and fluid weights in the back are a must. You will have to increase your header lift rate and slow the lower rate as well. I've driven quite a few machines with that setup, but yes the 2388 just doesn't have enough weight in the back end and gets very forward tippy.
