2162 draper head- AWSOME!

I got to demo an 8010 and 7010 today both fitted with 35' flex drapers. It was the first time I have driven either machine and a draper for that matter as well. I was totally impressed with how well the draper cut and fed along with the capacity of both combines. The draper was a night and day difference from the 25' 1020's I run, if any of you are thinking of buying one and not sure how well they work I totally recomend them! My dealer just started to get them in finally and they are pushing me to buy a 35' and a left over 7010. Although I'm not in the market for a new combine I would love to get the draper. Do any of you have any experience with putting a 2162 on a 2300 series machine? I know there is supposedly an adapter plate, if so how much is it and will the electrics work for the automatic head head since this head was made for the 7010 and 8010 electronics? Any info and help would be of great assistance.....
Thanks,
Joe

I don't know about the electrical conversion, but we have a 30' 2162 on a 2188. It is a load for the machine to carry around, and we have to add some weight (12 row ready package) to it, but it is handling the head in the field. Dad said he was pushing it 5.5 - 6.5 mph in 20 to 30 bu. soybeans on a custom cutting job.

We are dryland SC KS

Maxie, when you say it should work does that mean it will bolt up with the adapter plate as well as the electronics working, I'd hate to make such a purchase and then find that the automatic head won't work, I also noticed on this head that the knife angle can be adjusted hydraulicly, since the 2300's don't have the extra switch and extra hydro hoses can they be added to the combines?

Re: 2162 draper head- AWSOME!

When you order your new header you will specify which make/model combine you have and the header will come completely setup for you machine. As for the fore/aft tilt you will need to purchase a kit which includes a switch and wiring to install in the side console of your combine which will allow you to select either cutterbar tilt or reel fore/aft.

If you find a used or carryover 2162 which does not have the adapter/wiring for you 2300 you can purchase the adapter kit which will include everything you would need for (don't quote me) $2000 or "so" and are easy to install. ////PLUG\\\\ We do have a used 2008 2162 35' for sale for $49500 but you would have to adapt it to fit your machine.

Re: 2162 draper head- AWSOME!

Glad to hear it Joe....I saw a 35' 2162 and a 70 or 8010 leaving Hoobers Thursday and turning by the gas station at the MD line. Wonder if that was the one for you. Anyway I been wanting to demo one but have not seen one yet. I've asked a couple of times. I guess since were are moving they are not worried about us anymore.... ...Oh well I guess I'll have to wait and see if Vetter Equip. in Iowa will demo me one. If it goes right I would be looking to trade our 2007 2020 35' on a 40' 2162. I think the 35' will be to small for our 8010.

On another note where is your farm at exactly? I was trying to remember the other night.

Re: 2162 draper head- AWSOME!

They were probably the machines that you saw, the 8010 was bought buy a farm in that area the 7010 was out on demo to a guy in that area also, my farm is in NJ but I drove over there to run them for a few hours the other day. They were both cutting 35-50 bushel beans behind wheat at 14% and neither head seemed to faze either combine at 4.5 mph they both could handle more, 60 bushel green stem beans might have been another story though.......

WooHoo dealer is finally going to bring over a 2162 35' flexdraper next week as soon as the weather gets right to cut beans. I can't wait to see how it stacks up to our 35' 2020. I'll keep you posted.

Big A ; id you ever get a chance to try that flex draper? I here a lot of good things about them but I talked to a dealer today and he said they won't cut as close as flex head.
