Claas Orbis 600 gathering issue

We are running an Orbis 600 on a 960.
I have become very frustrated with the amount of stalk drops and recutting we have. I think it is especially noticable or worse on the rows that have to travel in a forward direction after being cut before getting carried around the drum to the intake. This head drops Soo much more then our old RU450 it makes you sick. Claas has nothing to say on the matter, but if this kind of loss was observed on a combine head, it would be in the scrap pile.

On inspection of a ru450, I noticed two things that I believe have a significant impact on this issue. 1: the notches on the drums are all hooked on the RU and straight on the Orbis. 2: the knives are set at least 1/2" further back from the tips of the gathering drum on the RU.

A change to the knife drum may be the easiest, but still fabrication unless there someone knows of narrower width bolt on knives available??

Any input on this would be helpful and appreciated!!

Did you solve your problem? We run a 750. I have noticed that the Dimensions that the book gives as a speck for the Gathering point fingers that go back and then bend and follow along the drum. Distance from the drum to those fingers is very critical if that where's where they get bent out it doesn't hold the stock in there and then that stock will fall out and forward and drop down.

I know our dealer has mentioned the issue and service clinics but I didn’t pay close attention as we run a ru head. You could google Arnolds implement Glencoe Minnesota and talk to dean in service
