sugar beets harvest in France

here a report on a not very familiar culture with you who are in America!

It is the harvest of sugar beets in France and more particularly out of Champagne (famous for its wine which you must know! )

the technique is the following one:

First, The John Deere 6910 thins out the leaves of and tears off beets by putting them in wind-rows

and then the John Deere 8520 with his large red bucket collects the wind-row and makes a heap of them.

Some photos :

Re: sugar beets harvest in France

greetings and salutations,

What brand beet pullers are those? and what spacing do you use?

Are any of the beets grown in europe ridge tilled-meaning hilled
and with 20 inch rows?

Beautiful filming by the way too.

Re: sugar beets harvest in France

I hope for to have understood the question and to answer it well here!

the beets are of mark KWS or SES. The grubbing plough is a " Moreau". The rows are spaced of 45 cm (18 inches)

Thanks

I have seen your photos and videos on the France website GTP. Amazing work. If I go to Agritechnica next year, I want to take a drive through that region - it is beautiful scenary!

Merci!

Lokks like a good concept if the weather is dry around the time you lift your beets.
