Re: Cotton In Australia

Yeah we didn't mind growing the TwinRow cotton all we did was convert our old NG series Monosem to our current NG+3 Monosem and on the John Deere 9976 we opened up the crop lifters to grab the fallen bolls.

The 05/06 season was the last year since we have grown cotton and we did plant all TwinRow. Overall we were happy with the yeilds, lost 1/2 bale due irrigation was late. But the crop was smaller, less vegeative crop, crop closed earlier so late weed problems didnt exist, overall crop matured 2weeks earlier than normal. One block took 2 defoliations due to poor coverage by aircraft other 2 blocks were sprayed via boom spray and only needed one application of defoliation.

I think if we do grow cotton ever again and once the price picks up dramatically we wont option the TwinRow only due to the small advantage.

Cheers Camel

Re: Cotton In Australia

We run Module Trucks over here but we have to deal with the DOT. I have two and we have to get Permits for over length and over weight. I have a unit that is trailer mounted but we can only use it on county roads. The state will not let us tag it.

Re: Cotton In Australia

Does the twin-row cotton yield as well as the the regular solid cotton? Do you save 1/3 of some of your inputs such as seed, growth regulators, defoliant, etc.?
