I guess Iím old school, we try to seed three bushels by volume. This year it worked out to 148 lbs by weight.

We target all our cereals to have 30-32 live plants per sq ft, my opinion the only way seed rate should be calculated...by the number of plants you want per sq ft.

Bushels are a measure of volume actually, not weight. 1.284........ cubic feet to a bushel.

Oats is a crop where your bushel weight can vary from 36lbs to 50lbs, so I just use last years settings when doing oats and tweek the setting after first fill.

This kind of got sidetracked I think. I meant I was done seeding all of my oats and was wondering if finishing off the tank (double seeding) was a bad idea or not as I'd have around 260 lbs/ac.
I ended up filling a couple mini bulks and seeded around 8 acres at 250 lbs with an extra 20 lbs of fertilizer. I guess I'll find out how it works.
