7650 Spra Coupe ECM

Engine control module on perkins engine in 7650 has died.None available in Australia and $8000+ & ~1month to supply.Does anyone know a good perkins dealer in the states who would be willing to ship me one direct.

Thanks,
Jack

A few long shots to try here in Australia.

EPSA based in Hallum Vic sell olimpian gessets with perkins engines.

Allight are the perkins distributor, have you called them direct? Allight can also cross some parts to cat numbers (I think), alote of mid size cat loaders, rollars ect have perkins with yellow paint.

Man alive thats really really bad service from Croplands you would think they would have a part like that in stock in AUS at all times !!!!!. Just a thought for you check out some major dealers for coupes in the US and get in contact with them direct ive found dealers in the US to be verry verry helpfull. It wont take one month to airfreight and you can be dam sure it will workout cheaper than CRAPLANDS

Jack, what is the issue with the ecm/ecu? What has been done to trouble shot?

I hate to call a dead ecm unless it is a relly cut and dry? Is it the perkins with the rotary fuel pump and about 7 wires going into the fuel pump?

Never had any thing to do with the perkins, had a bit to do with some of them with a splash of yellow.

I think, and a big think that that would be same engine diffrent badge as a engine in 924G loader or cp563E rollar.

MadSnake,
Thanks for your replies.I have tried Allight through one of their dealers, nearest unit is in Singapore and still over $5000 without a voltage suppressor. Will look into finding someone that repairs ecm's tomorrow, seems there is alot that do automotive type ecu's, haven't found any that specialise in heavy diesel units. The only troubleshooting that has been done is swapping my unit onto another machine that works fine, once my ecm is hooked up it won't start. The perkins diagnostic tool the dealer has can't communicate with it either so they are assuming ecm is the problem.

Thanks,

Jack.

Jack to have have a handle of jackthereaper, one would gess you are in SA? In the stockjornal a few weeks a go there was a add for a firm called Agtronics (i think), the way the add read they would be worth a try.

When they get the 'can't communicate' this is with your ecm (the bad one) on a diffrent engine? If the ecm dose not have good earth, constaint power and swithched power, it will not communicate and the engine will not run.

Hate dead ECM's as I like to be 200% of all wiring before been happy it is dead. I allways check power, earth ect with multi meter.

Good luck

is ecm grounded through mounting bolts? i'm having similiar issues-- voltage into ecm seems consistent-- voltage to fuel solenoid jumps around-- sometimes it will read 17 millivolts-- and other times it will read 8 volts-- at 8 volts it will start--i've had a helper turn the key off and on to run position - while i've had a voltmeter on fuel solenoid clip and i'll get different readings as noted-- i've tested voltage from switch to ecm and it seems to stay consistent-- just voltage coming out isn't-- am i missing something? thks
