Albertabuck, on both of mine they have an air valve adjustment lever and air pressure gauge located on the steering column for the air tag. Raise the lever to increase air pressure to around 80 and lower lever to decrease to 0 or anywhere in between. I think that is the max on mine, but I'll have to check again.

Two more quick questions,...what vintage of truck are you speaking of as in what year, and if I understand you correctly it is air pressure than holds the axle down and puts load on it...what actually lifts the axle when you want to raise it

I can honestly say I have never seen a early to mid seventies vintage tandem anything up here with an air tag in a class 5 truck. Newer ones, yes. Anything of that vintage on air was a true tandem with 34000s on Hendrickson. I'm going to have to pull some manuals and look into how they were rigged. Never have had to deal with one, so never really paid attention when going thru the books

As of yesterday the 75 IH runs on, 3126 is dead. Cracked engine cover that supports air compressor. Major.

'78 ih loadstar 1800 and a '78 chevy c65. To lift the tag off the ground it uses little "pancake"air bags that work opposite of the main air bags. I have seen some that use a coil spring turned on it's side to lift it off the ground.

Yep those were common and that will be exactly the same as what mine was. That set up was common because most of those trucks had hydraulic brakes so then had the mechanical suspension and the power pack lift

Similar 79 GMC 7000, 366 5&2 19' x48" box. Electric/ hyd tag lift.
Only 115000 km. Bought it new with a 16' box for $17000. In 1985 swapped box and added a tag. Rusty box cut of and welded to floor. About 6 mpg highway hauling 500 bu wheat. Hauled all harvest grain till 2007. Motor had new manifolds, rings, bearings and valves at 80000 km. Runs perfectly. Biggest issue now is all brakes take turns leaking.

Finally harvest is over for us.... still COLD, getting COLDER(

Cool Help! Need pic of upper and lower junction blocks in eng comp for 366

Hello, my son just bought his first 1978 C65 with the 366 in it. there has been all kinds of nefarious electrical work done by rats and then grounded hot wires burned up (not sure why yet).. I bought the 1978 Truck Wiring Diagrams for him but nothing shows the 11 post upper or lower Junction Blocks specifically. His truck was running the other day just fine but we systematically removed nuts and wires one at a time (so I thought) to wire wheel them and treat w/ a small amount of axle grease to prevent future rust. Now he's not getting juice to the upper or lower except via one wire. Can anyone please email me a good picture of the wires going in/out of their uppers and lowers so I can look at wire colors and position to find out what I screwed up?

Thank you,

Paul
