As far as I know the 542 became the 5542. And I thought the last digits were the cylinder width. So the 545 would be 3" wider than the 5542, and a series older?

I always thought a 545 was a corn/bean combine. Where as the 5542 was the wheatland model. Didn't a 545 have the grain tank up top?

Had a 545 Cockshutt and an Oliver. Was told the 5542 had a wider or lighter cylinder, (don't remember exactly but), that it (? shaft) would bend doing corn. Neighbour is still doing 50ac/year with the Cockshutt.

545 I think had the hopper behind the engine.

545 identical guts to the 542 and 5542. The 545 had different wheel tread width for row crops and that was why the tank was put up top.
It was also sold in Minnie yellow under a different number
