double header trailers

I am looking to build a double header trailer this winter, that will be pulled by either a tandem or a 1 ton, but most likely by each at least at some point next season. Can I get some opinions on which style of double header trailer is best. For hydraulics i would have a 12 volt motor running a pump that stayed on the trailer.

Re: double header trailers

you're talking about a folding double header trailer I take it then. I would think that a 1 ton pickup wouldn't be able to pull nearly as safely as a truck. They are pretty tall and wind gusts can take their toll on them, and I'm not sure if a 1 ton pickup could keep it undercontrol and even pull it up a hill under it's own power. Just a few concerns I would have but good luck to ya.

Re: double header trailers

The only ones I've ever seen were made by Befort I believe. Befort is a custom harvester that makes trailers in the off season. The one in the pictures below is designed for a pair of 36' macdons, but there is a simple adaptor bracket that would allow us to put a pair of Case 1010 or 1020 heads on there.

Here are a couple pictures I took of one in 2004:

I'm not sure, but it is possible that Mauer may make such a trailer too. I'm not sure on the exact spelling of their name though.

If you look through the pics of my 2004 custom harvesting blog, you'll see pics of the double header trailer throughout the season.
