You’re talking about two unrelated things here so lm puzzled by your question.
I don’t care for the MacDon rock guard, I agree it would likely cause a bit of seed loss and in a light crop feds poorly over it.
The pipe idea sounds interesting.

Seed saver is to stop loss under side drapers over feed draper, that I would install.

The roller and picking idea also gets my vote.
