Kijiji

If a frequent user of kijiji, always looking for deals on things. Anyone else notice that most of the ads these days are from dealers? Some are posting their entire inventory.... daily! TAkes forever to rifle through the new daily classifieds.

I haven't seen much for machinery but cars and trucks have been like that for a long time

Its starting to get that way more and more but the ones that really annoy me are the auctions that get posted there, see a bunch on there now that are spring auctions. At least the dealer has things for sale not just trying to get free advertising.

Lot more traffic, people read Kijiji rather than the papers that come and the machinery is already sold..We have a 95% success rate selling our stuff on there..

Western Tractor is terrible for this, pages and pages daily. I don't begrudge them some advertising but do they really have to list 3 or 4 pages of the same model of combine? Just list a couple of them, If people are interested enough to call then you can tell them you have 60 more to choose from. Luckily on Kijiji you can set your preferences to not show listings from dealers.

I wasn't aware they had a setting to keep the dealer ads from coming up as its sure made a mess of the vehicle ads for sure, trying to figure out what might be a private owner vehicle.

do you think this is why you can only post 3 free adds, any more and they charge $10.00 to do it

There must be a way that people are getting around this rule....there is a guy on Wpg Kijiji that has a few dozen tractor brocheres and manuals listed under heavy equipment....he posts every one seperatly and is asking 10 or 15 bucks each so there is no way he is paying $10 an ad. Whats annoying is that he reposts them often so everyone has to keep looking at them....but not as bad as Maxim IH truck dealer...relists a whole page of late model IH trucks every morning!!

That was a bad move to allow dealers to blitz that site with ads, turning lots of people off.....including myself. If I wanted to look at all Maxim's stuff(which I don't) I would go to their website, which could be achieved by a banner-type ad.

I"m not fond of the toys and brochures in the heavy equipment listings either.

I have bought and sold a fair bit of stuff through Kijiji but it is becoming less effective with recent developments.

I must have to update my app to get that dealer filtering option.

Made the mistake of accidentally clicking the dealer instead of owner option one time posting an ad myself, tried to charge me 10$ plus 10 for each of my other ads I had! Either kijiji is making killing off of all these dealers who post 50+ ads daily! or they somehow found a way around it. I kinda feel sorry for the poor shmuck who's gotta reenter all those every morning! But still, if I wanted to see what all these guys have on their lots, I'd go through the ag dealer or iron search
