Auction results

Was at a farm auction yesterday and was surprised at a couple of the selling prices. There was a 2005 'gator 1064, super clean with 38xx hrs that sold for $50,000 CAD that I thought was dirt cheap but, not knowing anything about 'gators I looked them up and that seems to be the going price. Seems pretty cheap to me. The other thing that had me scratching my head was the 2 star fire itc receivers. One sold for $1100 and the other for $1000. What to these guys know that I don't??. I figured I would have to haul mine to the dump. Anybody want one for $1000 I'll pull it off and sell it RIGHT NOW.

I've forgotten when the ITC quits operating, is that by next spring ?. I have one as well, maybe theirs gold inside those units but my guess is that whoever bought them has no clue or does the initial activation fee included with the purchase when they were new carry on to buying a replacement ( I doubt it though ).

Generally what goes on at an auction makes little to no sense.

I was thinking of trying that. A 4020 went for $8500. I thought maybe I could paint my Belarus 5184 green and sell it.

I don't remember either. I went to the sale because there was a star fire 3000 there. I was willing to go to $3000 but it went for $4500. There was also a 2630 screen that I was going to go to $3000 on because mine is delaminating a bit and they want something like $4000 to refurbish it but it went for $8500 or something like that so, like usual, I got skunked.

I have been told that John Deere is the "Belarus of Europe"...so maybe you are on to something there...ha ha

On the sprayer: There is so much equipment around and not enough buyers, and nobody really wants a 38XX hour sprayer when other options available.

Plus kevlar is right, auctions don't often make sense. Depends who shows up.

What kind of shape was the 4020 in? That is a cheap price around here. Assuming you're talking CAD that should be around $6500 USD, those rarely go under $10k here, mostly $15-20k in decent shape, best I've seen was $24k.

I know of a 5020 a guy would sell here. We started it a few years ago to maybe put to use for the PTO. Turns out it doesn't have one. Had to move it anyway to put a bin up. Radiator had a leak so it was pulled, repaired, and never put back in. Offer $10,000 for it and I am sure he would help load it.

Yep, auctions can be head scratches. I just purchased a flexi 5000 with 3850 cart and IAG blockage on it this summer. Setup like most want in this area. 9" spacing, 57ft. Kind of hard to find now for a used seeder. Not a lot of work needed. A dealer hauled it in to the auction. A different one was listed on the flyer. It is still listed for sale at the dealers web site for $50,000. Got down to $10,000 so I bid once. No one bid again. Plan to use my old one as a parts machine.
