S680 pro drive failure

Hi all

We currently have 3 S680's which are 1 season old and 2 of these combines are on their third pro drive gear box each. The gearbox seem to seize and the wheels lock.

When the pro drive gear boxes were inspected bolts appear to have worked loose and gone between the gears locking everything up.

This has been the case on each occasion and john deere don't appear to have a solution at this stage so we are told.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

I can post pictures tomorrow to better explain the situation if that helps

S690 broke pro drive in first year at about 150 eng hrs. Something broke teeth off gears in there. I never did ask what they found out. It seemed to be a bit of a secret?? Got a new box from another machine, (not one box in spares in AUS that year) They mucked with this box for ages (months) as it was noisey and very clunky on gear changes. Finally got another brand new box after much much complaining and its all good so far. Other pro drive in 9870 has 5500 hrs on it and is still good. But I much prefer the old style hydro.

I was quizzing my dealer about this a while back when looking at a S680 and he said they have had a handful of failures, all of them have been machines doing alot of road work while towing comb trailers. I'd be interested to know if that rings true for those that have had failures?

The pro drive issue has been going on since the pro drive came out years ago, most of failures have been park brake or the bolt failure and bits going through other components. It's disappointing that there are new machines still having the same problem. Deeres fix when fails mentality is going to be their demise. Good comment Don 9,8,7...., regrettable but so many of the machines out there seem to be like that
