sts wheel torque

i just changed some rims on a sts 9770, the tire shop installed them at a 250 torque and said that would be fine but the rim says 150 ftlbs plus 90 degrees
will they be fine or do they need to be redone

Mark them with a paint marker or just keep an eye on them. You get plenty of warning if they are working loose. I wouldn’t be to worried about them but that’s just me..........

Ive had a tire shop do that and they came loose. I'm religious about torquing them correctly now.

Combines today have so much weight on these drive tires you need to be checking these bolts regularly. I would get your own 1" drive sockets and extensions to do that every day for a while after being off. 1" drive torque wrenches are down to $350ish at Princess and allow you to get these bolts tight enough but not too tight to start stripping threads. It is a real fine line and you don't want to invite more trouble with these wheel bolts than is already coming your way, just by design. Or lack of. Don't know where you are but I have some of those tools that I am not using anymore.

I was having lots of trouble breaking studs on a 500 series lexions when I was rechecking the torque all the time. I believe I was over torquing them a little bit each time. Since I started just torquing once and putting on wheel check marker I haven’t broke one since. A friend of mine was having the same problem and he told me he hasn’t broke one since.

The best thing about the wheel check markers is you can see them from a long ways away

I would torque them to between 400-450. 250 is not enough.

I picked up a torque multiplier to deal wheel bolts on a 9600. My 10 year old daughter could tighten them to spec now. They are a couple hundred bucks on Amazon.
